Reprieve for The Voice's Clunes duo
SAVED from the brink of elimination.
On last night's episode of The Voice, Gabriel and Cecilia Brandolini went head to head with fellow Team Ricky contestant Brandon -and lost.
It was a moment that happened so quickly, the Clunes duo said they didn't have time to register their loss before the quick hit of a button that meant the young musicians could continue their reality TV show journey.
After Brandon won the battle round, the remaining judges had five seconds to claim the pair.
But it was Will.I.Am who jumped in and saved the day.
"Will.I.Am pressed the button straightaway," Gabriel said. "It was absolutely the last thing we expected.
"I thought if anyone would save us it would be Joel."
The duo performed Demons from the band Imagine Dragons.
Cecilia said it was a challenging song for her to sing.
"I think it was kind of uncomfortable because the original song is male and it sort of sits in the male register," she said.
Despite their talent, Gabriel said they were nervous stepping out on stage.
"For us, as musicians who are always standing behind our instruments, it was a very very nerve-racking experience," he said.
Gabriel and Cecilia are now excited new members of Team Will.
"Will is renowned for his producing abilities and his creative skills and all the stuff he does outside music," Gabriel said.
"He really is an inspirational role model."
The Brandolinis said having Brandon go through was "awesome".
"We actually made friends with him from the very first day we were there," Gabriel said.
Byron Bay musician Holly Tapp has also made it through to the next stage, after winning her battle round on Sunday night.
