Mixed Probus Clubs of Hervey Bay enjoy Burrum River Quest

THE Burrum River Quest entices and invites passengers to enjoy a journey of calmness and pleasure as they glide gently along following the river and listen to some local history.

The Mixed Probus Clubs of Hervey Bay publicity officer Judith Drysdale said everyone last week revelled in the joys the Burrum River had to offer.

"The boat left Burrum at 10.30am and out came delicious home baked products and steaming cups of tea and coffee," Judith said.

"Then we headed up to Buxtonville, where folk disembarked and stretched their legs with a walk to the general store.

"What a beautiful river the Burrum is - wide and green, edged by healthy mangroves.

"The sea breeze was delightful after the hot summer days of the past few weeks.

As we motored along, a scrumptious lunch was served which included a baked ham on the bone and delicious salads.

The skipper and his first mate gave us interesting snippets of local history as we explored the tributaries along the way," Judith said.

"The trip certainly was one to remember and everyone in the club is pleased to recommend the trip if you are keen to explore more of this beautiful area."

Mixed Probus Club Hervey Bay Inc welcome visitors to their monthly meetings at the Masonic Hall on the fourth Thursday of the month at 8.45am for a 9.15am start.
