Police release CCTV image of jewellery theft

UPDATE: POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man believed to have taken about $5000 in jewellery from Michael Hill Jewellers at Stockland Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

The man is about 25-30 years old with a bald head and slim build.

The man was trying on the $3500 gold chain and $1600 gold bracelet about 5.20pm before he ran from the store when the shop attendant's attention was elsewhere.

He was last seen driving away in a greenish "bubble" type vehicle.

EARLIER: A MAN waited for the shop attendant's back to be turned before taking off with about $5100 in jewellery from Michael Hill Jewellers at Stockland Shopping Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was trying on the $3500 gold chain and $1600 gold bracelet about 5.20pm before he ran from the store when the shop attendant's attention was elsewhere.

The man was seen getting into a blue green hatch.

Police are viewing CCTV footage of the incident.
