Take part of Torquay Caravan Park to save trees: reader
READER'S STORY: In order to save a section of cottonwoods in Ernie Organ Park being destroyed by the council in order to enlarge the park, I suggest the council resume the section of the Torquay Caravan Park shown in the attached photo.
This is about equivalent to the same area of cottonwoods the council wishes to remove.
This would be more economical as the fence which presently separates Ernie Organ Park from the Caravan Park could be reused in its new position and turf is already present.
However, more importantly, valuable dune stabilising and shade protection vegetation will not be lost.
