HERVEY Bay Seagulls are the first team through to the Bundaberg Rugby League grand final.
The Seagulls beat Wests Panthers 28-18 at Bundaberg's Salter Oval, but the minor premiers were forced to work for it.
Hervey Bay led 18-8 but two tries in the space of seven minutes saw Wests level the scores with 20 minutes to play.
The Seagulls withstood Wests' assault, and two tries in the final six minutes sealed the result.
Hervey Bay coach Tye Ingebrigtsen said the focus was to get through this week.
"Last year we did it the hard way and lost injuries in that last game so now we can rest up," he said.
"We've got a few niggling injuries from this game but we'll reassess that in the next two weeks."
