UPDATE: Maryborough Police have suspended the search for a man who went swimming in flooded Queens Park after no one was found on Tuesday morning.

The police said it was not clear if the man had managed to make it back to shore so the search had been called off and would resume when floodwaters receded.

EARLIER: Swift water rescue teams are searching for a suspected missing person in flooded Queens Park.

Maryborough Fire Station's Shane Goodall said two teams were called in at 7am on Tuesday.

They are searching for a man who went swimming in floodwaters on Monday night.

"He was observed going into the water for a swim," Mr Goodall said.

"Police arrived and heard him call out.

"They sent in the swift water crew into where they last heard him, but they didn't find anything."

Meanwhile, State Emergency Service crews have started evacuating more homes in Maryborough.

"These are people who were asked to evacuate yesterday," controller Helen Scott said.
