Shadow Minister for Fisheries protests in Maryborough
QUEENSLAND'S Shadow Minister for Fisheries Deb Frecklington has visited Maryborough's Sugar Coast Seafoods to protest the State Government's new commercial fishing regulations.
Mrs Frecklington met with business owners Jaye, Ross and Loretta Shcwarzrock to discuss the Labor Government's net-free commercial fishing zones in north Queensland.
The Shadow Minister said the Labor Government had failed to consult with the commercial fishing industry about how the net-free zones at Cairns, Mackay and the Capricorn Coast would affect them.
She said if similar regulations were introduced on the Fraser Coast, the local industry would suffer.
A comment has been sought from Queensland Fisheries Minister Bill Byrne.
