Surf lifesavers to show their skills in Maryborough
SURF Life Saving Queensland will share its rescue skills with Maryborough students and other emergency services on Friday in preparation for the wet season.
The organisation's Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter crew will perform demonstrations at the Brolga Theatre on Friday morning before visiting three schools.
The demonstration to police, ambulance and fire officers and other members of the local disaster management group is designed to show off SLSQ's ability for emergency response.
"This exercise provides an opportunity for other organisations on the disaster management group to see and become familiar with the equipment and skills that SLSQ can contribute," SLSQ Wide Bay Capricorn branch president Chris Donnelly said.
Maryborough West State School, Riverside Christian College and Maryborough Special School will all get a visit from the helicopter crew. St Mary's Primary School students will also meet with the crew before their demonstration at the Brolga Theatre.
Along with the helicopter, the demonstration for emergency services will also include SLSQ's inflatable rescue boats, jet ski and a 6m jet boat in the Mary River.
