Stripper sheds light on adult entertainment industry
SHOWGIRL Tori doesn't need your concern, she doesn't want your sympathy, she just wants your cash.
The married mother of three is the owner of Red Hot Strippers - a Gold Coast company that supplies a venue in Toowoomba with topless waitress for their twice weekly sessions.
She is also a 20-year veteran of the adult entertainment industry.
As the debate about the proposed strip club continues in Toowoomba, it seems everyone has had their say.
But what about the women who actually work in the industry?
Tori said the industry was largely misrepresented and was suprised by Toowoomba's outspoken, largely negative reaction to a proposed strip club.
"I am very surprised by it all," she said.
"The obvious perception that people have is that strippers are prostitutes.
"Obviously 'sex sells' but we don't sell sex."
She said it was the monetary rewards that brought women to industry.
"If you do this the right way then everything is fine," she said.
"I have three children and I am happily married."
However, despite the success of the local topless waitresses sessions, Tori doesn't expect an established strip club to thrive.
"It's a small country town, I guess you wouldn't have the market," she said.
"But it will probably bring a lot of money into the town."
Proposals by LA Showgirls are currently before the Queensland Liquor and Gaming Commission as well as the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation.
It is unknown when a decision will be made.
