Some 80,000 visit caravan parks, 170,000 through aiports

THE Fraser Coast Regional Council has released information showing almost 80,000 patrons visited the four council-owned caravan parks last financial year.

The region's two airports - in the major centres of Hervey Bay and Maryborough - serviced about 170,000 passenger movements.

In the same period, the council spent more than $1.49 million on operations and upgrades to the two airports and a further $375,000 to operate the visitor information centres.

Meanshile, the Fraser Coast Regional Council's four visitor information centres in Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Tiaro welcomed more than 64,000 through the doors in the last financial year.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said more than 700,000 people visited the region every year by rail, road and air.
