State’s best potters turn to convention for inspiration

DOZENS of potters have converged on Howard for the 39th Annual Potters Convention.

Both amateurs and professionals from across Queensland have made their way to the Fraser Coast for professional development, demonstrations and open discussion.

The event is hosted by the Wide Bay Burnett Potters Association and held at the Burrum and District Community Centre in Steley St.

The public can join the potter action and enjoy the atmosphere from 9am to 3pm on Sunday.

Professional potters, such as Evelyn and Nick Riphagen from Hervey Bay, who have more than 70 years' experience between them, will be on hand to share tips and tricks of the trade.

Other invited Queensland artists include Ann O'Connor, from Mt Glorious, Peter Harris, from Gympie, and Eva Nieminen, from Maryborough.

Hervey Bay potters Evelyn and Nick Riphagen, with a combined 70 years of pottery experience, spend some time on the wheel at the convention in Howard.
