Stiefler caps dream year as AFL Wide Bay's best

BEST ON GROUND: A staunch Pomona Demon for most of his career, the idea of suiting up for fierce rivals Gympie would have been farfetched to Scott Stiefler just 12 months ago.

Fast forward one year, and the man known as "Gunny" has done all he can in a Cats guernsey.

He finished equal second on the Cats' top goal-kicker list with 33 majors in the regular season and was last week named a joint winner of AFL Wide Bay's best and fairest award, the Stedman Medal, with Bay Power's Marcus Dyson.

Stiefler added yet another individual accolade to his footballing resume on Saturday night when he beat a hot field to be named best on ground for his stellar performance in Gympie's 31-point grand final win against the Hervey Bay Bombers, capping a near perfect year for the former Demon.
