Street shadow boxer blows .27 after ‘fight’ stopped by cops

A 24-year-old drunk man found shadow boxing and yelling on a Dalby street late Friday night was Saturday morning sleeping off the effects of alcohol in the Dalby Police watch house.

Sergeant Sean Donaghy of Dalby Police said the Wandoan man was spoken to by patrolling police after yelling loudly while shadow boxing on Patrick St about 11.45pm Friday.

“He has become verbally abusive toward police and obstructed police,” Sgt Donaghy said.

Not prepared to throw in the towel, the man was handcuffed and taken to the Dalby Police Station watch house where he returned a breath/alcohol reading of 0.27 when he was subject to a zero alcohol reading condition as part of the bail he was already on.

He was to be released from the watch house when police were satisfied he had sobered up enough to leave.

He will appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on April 28 on charges of public nuisance, obstructing police and breaching bail.
