More than 200 students to learn about leading at USQ

STUDENT leaders from the local area will descend on University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Fraser Coast for the 2015 USQ Youth Leadership Days on Friday March 20 and 27.

More than 200 students from eight Fraser Coast schools are expected to attend the two days held on consecutive Fridays and aimed at helping senior students in becoming good leaders.

USQ Vice-Chancellor and president professor Jan Thomas said the days were designed to help school leaders inspire their peers and to represent their school with pride.

"The days will include a series of workshops designed to help Year 11 and 12 student leaders to develop the skills and competencies they will need to undertake their role as school leaders in the year ahead," she said.

"USQ feels privileged to be able to host these days that help students to realise their potential.

"Sessions will also benefit accompanying staff members who will gain a greater understanding of leadership skills to enable them to mentor student leaders more effectively."

Students from the following schools will participate in the USQ Fraser Coast Leadership Days:

On March 20 St James Lutheran College, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Aldridge and Isis District high schools will participate.

Xavier Catholic College and Maryborough and Biggenden high schools will have their turn on March 27.
