Wearable Anzac memorial plaques presented to Xavier pupils

THE names and stories of 22 local Anzac heroes have been passed on to students throughout the Fraser Coast as part of the RSL Community Link project.

Three sets of 22 wearable plaques were presented to students from Xavier Catholic College on Thursday by Hervey Bay RSL sub-branch president John Kelsey and vice president John Beattie as part of the school's Anzac-themed assembly.

One of the Xavier students who was presented a plaque, Bailey Kilpatrick, said what he had leant about the Anzacs had affected him.

"It feels pretty daunting to know that they were from around where I am and they went so far to fight for Australia," Bailey said.
