Sun suffers horror injury in pre-season match
GOLD Coast has suffered a nightmare start to the JLT series with Sam Day stretchered from the field in the opening quarter of their match with Brisbane at Broadbeach Oval.
Day suffered a dislocated hip and was taken to hospital.
He was in extreme agony and required immediate pain relief while being treated on the ground.
Exasperated coach Rodney Eade has repeatedly declared over summer that he just needed some luck with injury.
David Swallow (knee) took part in Sunday's game after managing just six games in the past two years. Gary Ablett has also endured two horror years with knee and shoulder injuries while Michael Rischitelli is on the comeback trail from a knee reconstruction.
Although it has largely been Eade's midfield stocks that have been ravaged by injury in recent years, Rory Thompson (ankle), Day (back and elbow) and Trent McKenzie (ankle) have also missed significant chunks of footy in recent years.
