Sword fight leaves one in custody, one in hospital
ONE man has been remanded in custody and another taken to hospital after an alleged sword fight broke out at a home in Urangan on Friday.
A police media spokeswoman said the 23-year-old alleged attacker was arrested after allegedly physically fighting with the victim, also a 23-year-old man.
"The incident left one man suffering from stab wounds to his hand and chest after he attempted to defend himself with a sword," she said.
"He was in a conflict with the alleged attacker who was also armed with a sword."
The alleged attacker was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and of driving while disqualified.
He appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody until Monday, when he is set to reappear.
