The search for Fraser Coast's next Beth Mooney
CRICKET: Young cricketers have two months to prepare when the search for the Fraser Coast's next Beth Mooney stops by Maryborough.
A new female representative pathway has opened, which has resulted in a third Female State Challenge being run by Queensland Cricket.
Four teams will compete in the first under-17s State Challenge next year, alongside the already-established U13s and U15s. Budding cricketers aged between 12 and 15 will be able to trial at Maryborough Cricket Club on October 14.
Successful cricketers could follow the trail blazed by the likes of Hervey Bay product Mooney and former Kingaroy seamer Holly Ferling.
Mooney is currently in England playing for Yorkshire Diamonds in the Kia Super League. It's been a tough run for Mooney, Australia's female domestic cricketer of the year, who has scored 122 runs in her six innings so far.
