There's no place like home: USC Stadium to be a fortress
NETBALL: Lightning player Maddy McAuliffe believes an extra 1000 screaming Sunshine Coast fans can be the premiers' eighth player on court.
"2000 people was pretty loud, so I can't wait to see what another 1000 will do,” McAuliffe said.
"Our spectators are so close to the action, and we as players know it gets to the other teams.
"I know from playing when you do something and the crowd goes wild, it feels great and makes it more special.
"We can take that energy on.”
McAuliffe was full of respect for Australian captain and former Lightning golden girl Caitlyn Bassett when considering her first match up against her.
"Bass is a huge danger on court, she is Diamonds captain for a reason,” she said.
"She presents a big challenge, but so do all the Giants.
"I hope the crowd will respect her, the whole community was so welcoming for us, so hopefully it will be lovely.
"We can rough it up in the game, then catch up with her afterwards.”
Lightning have shot to third place, winning three in a row since a first round loss.
