Top buskers in street groove at Street Life Festival

SOME OF the Fraser Coast's most talented buskers have been commended by Australian musical royalty as part of the on-going Street Life Festival.

After three heats of performances from Fraser Coast buskers, the public voted for their favourite eight performers, who yesterday performed their hearts out at the Brolga theatre to the two visiting celebrity judges; John Rees from Men at Work and Bill McDonough from Australian Crawl.

Taking first place was Alexie and Jordan Buma who clinched $1500.

Other prize winners were Leon Tenow, Derek Smith and Leonie Kingdom who secured a combined $1500.

The people's choice award went to singing group Julie's Joy, a crowd favourite for their lively performances.

Although the buskers competition and Mary Poppins festivals are over, Street Life continues to Sunday.
