Full books for Fraser Coast tourism businesses over Easter

THE Easter tourism season has been one of the busiest in recent years according to several holiday parks.

The predicted rain held off across the weekend and the warm weather greeted tourists to the Fraser Coast.

Heading into the weekend resorts and caravan parks were hanging onto the hope of sunny days and no rain.

BIG4 Point Vernon Holiday Park receptionist Debbie Goodger said this years Easter weekend was one of the busiest and best.

"We were booked pretty solid," she said.

"In comparison with the last few seasons this one has probably been a little busier."

Tourists took advantage of the extra barge services and flocked to World Heritage listed Fraser Island to soak up the sun and sand.

Kingfisher Bay Resort Group general manager David Hay said it was a great weekend for visitors.

"The combination of lovely weather and the extended break meant that Fraser Island resorts were booked solid over the Easter long weekend and, as we head into the first week of the school holidays, visitor numbers are on par with last year," he said.
