Tug boat skipper takes a well-earned break

THE Urangan Harbour is usually full of whale boats, yachts and fishing trawlers.

But an unusual addition to the fleet will be moored here for a while.

Resting after three years of work off Mackay is a Shoalbuster tug.

The Arafura Sea Delta tug and its skippers Robert McKinlay and his son Justin have been helping build the Hay Point wharf for BHP since 2012.

With the job now completed Robert is now in Burrum Heads awaiting his next job, possibly in Bundaberg.

He has lived on the Fraser Coast for about 10 years, driving the Kingfisher Bay barge to Fraser Island for five of them.

The tug worked 24 hours a day while in Mackay.

Robert will spend his holidays relaxing before his next job.
