TV visitors worth millions to Fraser Coast
A MAJOR boost to domestic tourism numbers last year is only expected to get bigger as the Fraser Coast cashes in on its exposure across national television.
Figures released by Tourism Queensland this week show an 11% increase in domestic visitors to the region in the year ending September 2012.
Tourism Fraser Coast acting general manager Robbie Cornelius said visits from television shows Sunrise and My Kitchen Rules this week would see that number grow strongly into 2013.
"The publicity we've been getting over the past week or so is worth millions and millions of dollars," he said.
He said the overall 8% increase in both domestic and international visitors during the September quarter had been encouraging for operators.
Mr Cornelius predicted the last months of 2012 would also show an increase in the domestic market, after operators reported one of the best seasons for several years.
