Uni info days in M'boro and Hervey Bay on the weekend

ANYONE considering changing careers, upgrading credentials or taking on a new challenge has been invited to attend an Information Day at the University of Southern Queensland Fraser Coast this weekend.

Two events, to be held from 10am to 1pm in Hervey Bay at 161 Old Maryborough Rd on Saturday and Maryborough at 38 Sussex St on Sunday, will provide future students with the information they need to begin their studies.

USQ Vice-Chancellor and president Jan Thomas said the information days would give prospective students an opportunity to talk with academics, careers counsellors and admissions staff face to face with no bookings necessary.

"Visitors can discuss their options for beginning studies in semester oOne, as well as courses and programs available for entry in 2015," she said.

"They can also discuss the entry requirements, how to apply, how to improve their tertiary eligibility, student support services, the USQ Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) and credit for previous TAFE studies for students who may not have the relevant qualifications."

Staff will be available to offer information on pathways to postgraduate study for those without any formal qualifications but who have appropriate industry experience.

"I would encourage anyone interested in studying to come along to the information days and find out more about the campus, programs and university life," Prof Thomas said.

There will also be information on USQ's Head Start program, which allows high school students to study a university subject while still in high school.

Anyone wanting to enrol at USQ can apply either direct or via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre.
