VMR carries out two Fraser Island rescues

VOLUNTEER Marine Rescue crews were tasked to transport two people from Fraser Island on Saturday.

A child required medical treatment to a deep cut on their finger and was transported back to Hervey Bay.

While a 24-year-old staff member working on the island was also transported to hospital suffering abdominal pain.

"The helicopters were quite busy down south so VMR can be used for the lower acute cases," Queensland Ambulance Services senior operations supervisor Martin Kelly said.
