THE Fraser Coast's aviation precinct, tipped to bring high-tech manufacturing industries to the region's doorstep, is taking shape.

Drone photos have captured the impressive scope of civil construction works at the precinct, located next to the Hervey Bay Airport.

The works will pave the way for the construction of a new high-tech aircraft manufacturing centre, tipped to bring hundreds of jobs to the region.

Construction is expected to finish within a month.

Fraser Coast mayor George Seymour said the council was working with plane manufacturing company Astro Aero as the foundation investment at the precinct.

"We executed a land sale contract with Red Diamond Pty Ltd, the parent company of Astro Aero, earlier this year with the handover of the blocks to occur shortly," Cr Seymour said.

Engineering contractor Shadforth Civil started construction work on May 27, which has included stormwater drainage, kerb and channelling, sewer and water supply, road surfacing and bulk earth works.

These works are expected to finish between the end of August or early September.

Shadforth project manager James Harris said the company was delivering the project with a key contingent of dedicated local suppliers and sub-contractors

He said up to 40 locals were working on the site each day.

"These people are from businesses such as electrical contractors, a sealing and asphalt supplier, haulage contractors, labourers and operators, turf supply and kerb and channel trades," Mr Harris said.

60,000 tonnes of quarry materials have been sourced for the precinct's construction.

Astro Aero will be the first resident at the precinct, building up to 25 planes a year from its new factory. The particular planes are innovative aircraft specifically built to target freight movements in regional and remote locations.
