Check out our list of Australia Day events around the region

THIS year's Australia Day events range from free community breakfasts and lunches in parks to music and games.

Fraser Coast Regional Council will hold an Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and present the Australia Day Awards at the Brolga Theatre.

"Everyone is invited," Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said.

"The Citizenship Ceremony will start at 9am followed by the presentation of Australia Day Awards at 10.30am."

Nominating someone for an Australia Day Award is a great way to say thank you to the hardworking people who help make the Fraser Coast the fantastic and vibrant place it is.

"People have until Thursday, January 15 to nominate someone for the awards."

Nomination forms can be filled in on line or downloaded from the council website
