Witness on CCTV footage moments after smash and grab

POLICE are searching for the identity of a man who they believe may be a witness to robbery at Hervey Bay Airport IGA on Saturday morning.

Two men were seen smashing the front glass doors before stealing a number of cigarettes.

Maryborough police Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Acting Senior Sergeant David Guild said the man was captured on CCTV footage moment after the incident.

" In the video he walks up to the entrance looks around and then returns to his car and drives off," Snr Sgt Guild said.

He said police would like to know who he is.

It is not believed the man is involved in the theft.

The break-in occurred between 3.30am and 4.30am on Saturday morning.

The two men were seen on CCTV footage trying to enter the IGA through the loading dock.

When they were unsuccessful the men went to the front glass slide doors and kicked them until they smashed.
