World War II grenade detonated in Maryborough

A GRENADE from World War II had to be detonated after it was recovered from the Mary River.

A police spokesman said the grenade was found when a business was dredging part of the river in Maryborough.

It is believed the grenade was recovered on Monday.

The area was placed in lock-down and a team from the Australian Defence Force was called in to do a controlled detonation.
